\n\nVirginia Drake 97, of Elmira, New York peacefully passed away on November 9, 2014 at The Elcor Nursing Center. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her parents Maud and John Schiller\n\nalong with her brother Pearson Schiller preceded her in death. Virginia is survived by her six children: Jon, of\n\nElmira, NY, Joan Hunter (late Robert) of Denver, CO., Polly Murphy (Joe) of Linglestown, PA, William (Linda)\n\nof Horseheads, NY,, David (Bonnie) of Huntersville, NC and Stephen (Cathy) Concord, NC. Fourteen grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. In 1939, Virginia married the love of her life G. Manning Drake. He was truly the most important person in her life, and when he passed away he remained in her heart and life, forever. An incredible women, in 1937 Virginia helped create and manage the office of The Drake Coal Company in Elmira until becoming a homemaker for many years taking care of the growing family. Later she would again return to the business community as manager of the Drake Heating & Air Conditioning. Virginia finished her career by investing in real estate in Elmira, buying, remodeling and selling homes. She won praise and awards in every phase of her career. Her word was always her bond. However, during her long life one thing is for sure, nothing was ever more important to her than her family. Her never wavering positive attitude, and determination only do the right and moral things in her life surely has guaranteed that she is once again with her husband and her beloved mother.
