DeFILIPPO, SUSAN E.

Age 71 of Elmira, NY , passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 14, 2014. Sue was born March 24, 1942, in Elmira. Susan was predeceased by her parents, Roy B. & Margaret Osborn. She is survived by her husband Gerald E. DeFilippo; son & daughter-in-law, James & Catlin DeFilippo of Elmira; daughter, Julie DeFilippo of Ypsilanti, MI; sister, Margaret (Rick) Schenkel of Pittsford, NY; brother, Roy Osborn, of Cullowhee, NC; brother James (Karen) Osborn of Elmira; & her three much loved grandchildren, Colin, Leah, & Corinne. Sue is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends. Sue was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Parish. After graduating from Notre Dame High School of Elmira, Sue obtained her Registered Nursing degree from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1963. Susan was proud to have worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital for over 35 years. Susan's family would like to extend its gratitude to Dr. Edward Foster, MD., of IMAST, & the Care First Nurses & staff, especially Debbie Jaynes. Susan & her family would also like to thank her very dear sister-in-law, Karen Osborn who spent nearly every day with her for the last months of her life & who, together with Sue's husband, cared for her with such devoted love & grace. FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO VISIT AT THE BAKER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 640 W GRAY ST. ELMIRA, ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2014 FROM 4:00PM-7:00PM. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20, AT 11:00AM IN SS. PETER & PAUL'S CHURCH, ELMIRA. REV. RICHARD FARRELL, CELEBRANT. Interment of Susan's ashes will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, Susan wished that friends remember her through memorials to the Josh Palmer Fund, PO Box 3225, Elmira, NY 14905.
