McCORMICK, JOHN H.

Age 72 of Elmira, NY died on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. John was born on August 22, 1942 in Sayre, Pa to the late Harold J. McCormick & Irene (Rimbey) McCormick Emery. He was also predeceased by stepfather Hobart Emery. John is survived by his wife, Terry McCormick; children, John Riley McCormick & Katherine Marie McCormick both at home; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon & Schuyler of Beaver Dams, NY; grandson, Alexander Schuyler Goltry of Beaver Dams, NY; his best buds & companions, Finnegan & Tullamore; sister, Betty Jo (McCormick) Hazel, with husband James of Kingsport, TN. John attended Athens Senior High School class of 1960. He was a United States Navy veteran serving from 1960-1969; Vietnam, from 1966-1969. John retired from the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in Sayre, Pa after many years of service. He was a 32nd degree Mason of the Williamsport Temple Association, lifelong member of the Sayre Elks Club & member of Grace Episcopal Church, Elmira. CALLING HOURS WILL BE HELD IN THE CHAPEL OF BLESSED MICHAEL THE ARCH-ANGEL IN GRACE EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 375 W. CHURCH ST., ELMIRA, ON THURSDAY, JULY 30, 2015 FROM 9:00AM-11:00AM. A REQUIEM MASS WILL BE HELD AT THE CHURCH FOLLOWING CALLING HOURS AT 11:00AM. REVEREND FATHER DONALD W. MATTHEWS CELEBRANT. INTERMENT OF JOHN'S ASHES WILL FOLLOW AT BATH NATIONAL CEMETERY WITH FULL MILITARY HONORS.
