Irving Newman Obituary (1923 - 2014)

NEWMAN, IRVING Age 90 of Bath, NY, formerly of Elmira, NY, son of Louis & Sarah Newman, died Sunday morning, January 5, 2014. Irving was a self-employed photographer specializing in publicity & interior design. A World War II Veteran, he served overseas in the Army Air Corps photo reconnaissance lab. He was born in New York City on January 18, 1923 & was a graduate of New York University. He & his wife moved to Elmira in 1988. Irving turned his passion for photography into his life's work. He also loved movies & performing magic tricks for family & friends. His loving wife of 50 years, Ruth Ellen Newman, died in 1998. He is survived by son, David & his wife, Carol of Crofton, MD; & daughter, Anne Lakota & her husband, Alex of Kanona, NY. He is also survived by three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, & his brother, Leonard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made Salvation Army. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8TH, AT 3:00PM AT CONGREGATION KOL AMI, 1008 W. WATER ST., ELMIRA. RABBI MIRIAM BIATCH OFFICIATING. INTERMENT WILL FOLLOW IN TEMPLE B'NAI ISRAEL CEMETERY, ELMIRA.
